“Love all the different varieties of chickens! They are beautiful! Can you tell the difference in egg color from each hen?

My answer:

Hi! Thanks for asking.
There are some breeds that lay tan eggs, others that lay brown eggs, and some that lay a pale pink-ish egg. We have two new hens who just started laying green eggs. Since most of eggs that we get are tan, it’s hard to tell who lays what egg. I do know that Gabby, Trudy, Apricot, Fern, and Honey lay the brown eggs. They are Golden Buffs. And of course, I know who lays the green eggs…Faith and Joy.

“Do Buff Orpingtons and Lavender Orpingtons have different personalities?”

My answer:

Yes, Buff Orpingtons and Lavender Orpingtons have different personalities. Buff Orpingtons are definitely the friendlier breed. Lavender Opringtons are quite skittish. Both breeds are consistent layers.

I do, mostly. My dad and siblings sometimes collect the eggs for me. My brother likes to give them treats :) Thanks for asking!
